A group of 15 Year 9 students attended a course taster at NM TAFE, focusing on Water and Laboratory Operations. The program provided students with hands‑on experience across a range of practical workshops designed to broaden their understanding of scientific and environmental processes.
Students participated in water sampling and testing, where they collected a sample from a local water source and analysed it to determine whether it was safe for consumption. They also engaged in micro‑pipetting activities, developing precision sampling skills while learning about various separation techniques and their applications, including those used in the analysis of blood samples.
This experience offered students valuable insight into vocational pathways and the real‑world relevance of laboratory and environmental science.
