Wow! It is such an honour to be selected as one of four finalists – 2021 WA Secondary School of the Year, at the WA Education Awards 2021.

We thank Perth Energy – the sponsor of this award, for their support of Public Education in Western Australia.

Congratulations to Ashdale Secondary College – 2021 WA Secondary School of the Year.

I would also like to congratulate the other finalists:

Girrawheen Senior High School and Mount Lawley Senior High School.

Qualifying as a finalist celebrates and validates the work and contributions of thousands of people – not limited to, but including the following:

  • Our staff at CVC – each and every one of you; for your belief and your commitment to our values, plan and improvement journey in focusing on “Creating Futures” for our students.
  • Our CVC students – for your engagement every day in your education, progress, development, achievement, and your contribution to the College and the wider community.
  • Our CVC Parents – for walking with us and beside us in our partnership with you for the education of your children.
  • Our much broader Canning Vale community – for supporting and partnering with us in providing opportunities that challenge our students to expand their horizons, enabling them to have real life, hands-on experiences.
  • Our CVC Board – for being our advocates in the community; for supporting and challenging us on our improvement journey, and for working in collaboration with us to achieve and maintain a strong and focused governance of our college.
  • Our network, the Nicholson Network, and in particular, our local intake area Primary School Partners. The best practice that we share through our Professional Learning Communities, makes us all collectively stronger in providing a wholesome education for our students from K to 12 and beyond.

I am honoured to lead such a great Public School. Thank you for being a part of our evolving journey.
