The CVC Year 8 Extension Science class was offered the unique opportunity to be involved with the University of Western Australia and Infinite Energy in the development of a solar powered car.

Students were tasked with researching, designing, constructing, and documenting the process to create a solar powered car that would be raced around the Infinite Energy figure eight track, while ensuring the safety of an egg passenger.

Across 2 days last week, 57 teams from WA schools competed against each other to determine the fastest solar car. This was Canning Vale College students first attempt competing at such an event and we are pleased to have placed inside the top 20 cars.

Although every team wants to win the event, awards are also given for most engineered, most eco-friendly car, best egg passenger design, team effort, accompanying video and report and crash.

Canning Vale College won the award for best egg passenger and received an honourable mention for best accompanying video and report. See video above, put together by Joshua L.
