Our school community recently engaged in a valuable opportunity to strengthen understanding, connection, and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures. We were pleased to welcome a presenter from the Jarrak Jarrak organisation, who is supporting the implementation of the new SCSA unit Deep Time. This program forms an important part of the Year 7 curriculum and is designed to provide meaningful, engaging, and culturally informed learning experiences for students.
Key highlights from the visit included:
- Year 10 AE learning — Students explored the history and impact of the Stolen Generations, deepening their historical knowledge and empathy.
- Follow the Dream workshop — A focused session offering students valuable cultural insights and opportunities for reflection.
- HASS Learning Area presentation — Staff engaged in a professional learning session that strengthened cultural responsiveness and curriculum delivery.
This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across learning areas and fostering a respectful, informed school community.
