It’s been a busy term so far for Follow the Dream students!

In Week 1, Year 12 students Ebony and Haylie participated in Camco Engineering’s NAIDOC Week event, alongside Ms McGovern and Ms Francis. They did a fantastic job assisting with the catering and enjoyed celebrating this year’s theme: Keep the Fire Burning; Blak, Loud and Proud! Highlights included the smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country performed by Nick Abraham, inspiring words by respected Elder and Whadjuk Balladong woman Freda Ogilvie, and a fantastic dance performance by MIDN MARR Dreaming.

In Week 2, Year 7-12 Follow the Dream students were accompanied by Ms McGovern and Mr Scidone to Curtin University for the Kerala Djinanginy – Day of Looking excursion with other Follow the Dream participants from across Western Australia. Our students enjoyed exploring potential university learning areas through a range of engaging faculty workshops, participating in sports sessions, and exploring the Centre for Aboriginal Studies.

Year 11 and 12 Follow the Dream students were also lucky enough to attend the Polly Farmer Foundation’s Careers Morning Tea and Skills West Careers Expo in Week 2, accompanied by Ms McGovern and Ms Barnard. Students had the opportunity to engage with key Follow the Dream partners, universities, training institutions and industries, with our Year 12 students signing up to be Alumni mentors.
