In Week 6, Term 2 2025, our Year 8 Visual Art Extension classes spent a day with local abstract expressionist artist Gayle Mason.

Throughout the day, students took part in a variety of activities: experimenting with mark making, working with a variety of medium, creating their own brush and mark making tools, and working with large-scale layering techniques to create work with depth.

Students also worked on developing their arts language terminology through descriptive feedback tasks that will develop their analysis skills in the future.

The opportunity to work in a manner that was new to students expanded their arts making repertoire and presented them with new possibilities to make work in a more open way. Thanks Gayle!
