CVC Superstar Ryan Toor, Year 11, won First Place in the York Festival 2025 Short Story Competition with his beautiful story, “The White Lily.” Ryan received a $250 cash prize from Mr Will Yeoman, CEO of Writing WA.
The award presentation was held at York on 24 May 2025 attended by WA’s best-loved writers and poets.
Mr Yeoman praised Ryan’s story for its lyrical style and heartfelt portrayal of dementia, highlighting the subtle love and care between the characters. It’s a moving piece that truly stands out!
Ryan will be donating his prize money to Alzheimer’s WA to support people living with dementia.
