Last Friday our Year 8 Visual Art Extension students had Perth Printmaker Bina Butcher come in to show them how to create multi-colour lino prints. She gave them a talk about her process and showed them some of her pieces.
Our students looked at botanical images for their inspiration, from flowers to butterflies. They learnt how to create a two gradient as a base colour, create and cut a two tone design and then print back over the coloured background.
They did a great job with their designs, developing a strong understanding of relief printing processes. They followed all the safety procedures and finished the day with all fingers intact and a range of beautiful imagery!
Bina was very impressed with the positive attitude and focus that the students demonstrated.
