Academic Extension Program
Canning Vale College offers an academic extension program for students in Year 7 through to Year 10. The program provides academically able students an extension curriculum in four learning areas: English, Mathematics, Science and Society & Environment.
The program promotes academic rigour and challenges students to achieve at their highest level. The Program provides an excellent opportunity for students to engage in a high quality extension program in their local area with supported pathways to university.
Canning Vale College teachers are experienced and enthusiastic about student learning, evidenced through ongoing professional learning in the area of academic extension. Students in the Program cover the same curriculum as other students in their year level, but their teachers include enrichment activities and competitions to enhance their learning.
Students are encouraged to use critical analysis, and higher-order thought processes (ie. application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation), which assists with the preparation for academic study in Years 11 and 12 and beyond.
