CVC ESPORTS CLUB
Yes, you heard right! Canning Vale College has an Esports Club.
After missing out on the competitive inter-school Esports season last year, many passionate students were keen to ensure that we could make this dream of having Esports at CVC a reality in 2018.
Esports (or Electronic Sports), is competitive video gaming - and it is a lot more difficult (and stressful) than it sounds. We have approximately 55 club members to date, and two regional teams for the games, Overwatch and Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).
REGIONALS ROUND 1: MAY 5
Canning Vale Overwatch (WA) VS St. Eugene's College (QLD)
Being Flaktest Gaming’s Featured match of the week, this was live streamed on Twitch and can be rewatched here. Despite only playing together for a short time our team showed that CVC should not be underestimated, winning [2 - 1] in the first game and [2 - 0] in the second.
Canning Vale CS:GO (WA) VS Claver Esports (QLD)
Our team has already shown what they are capable of in the first match. Although they may not be happy with the end result, they have shown their resilience against a strong opposing team! Final Score [11 - 16].
REGIONALS ROUND 2: MAY 12
Both teams have continued to showcase their skills this round, bringing home two wins!
Canning Vale Overwatch (WA) VS Shenton Fort Knightz (WA)
Game 1: [2 - 0], Game 2: [2 - 0]
Canning Vale CS:GO (WA) VS SMA 1 PSKD (Indonesia)
Final Score: [16 - 0]
This opportunity has been made possible thanks to the amazing people at the community organisation, Flaktest Gaming. Their main goal is to “provide young people an opportunity to participate, learn and compete in esports in a safe and supportive environment”.
Lastly, many thanks to Year 10 student Megan Chow for our Discord Logo, it looks great! I look forward to keeping you posted on future Community Events as well as all achievements in the future.
