Yoga Collage

This week we acknowledged Mental Health Week with a series of Mindfulness based classes for students from Yogazeit. This year the theme for Mental Health Week was Strengthening Our Community - Live, Work, Play, with the aim of increasing mental wellbeing in WA communities. The events of recent times have brought the social determinants of mental health into sharp focus, so it's important to be aware and safeguard these factors of mental health, both during and after the COVID-19 pandemic has passed. 

Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present in the moment without judgement or distraction. Students began each class with techniques to focus on their mindfulness in complete silence, and then were asked to focus on a reoccuring sound made by the instructor.  Students were then shown a series of simple yoga moves, which they practised with the instructor, then on their own.
