It gives us great pleasure to announce that our very own Head of Languages Mrs Pavy has been recognised as one of three finalists in the modern Language Teachers’ Association of Western Australia (MLTAWA) Hilde Dixon Award for Outstanding contribution to languages education.
The MLTAWA Hilde Dixon Award for Outstanding contribution to Languages Education was introduced 12 years ago in memory of Hilde Dixon, a vibrant, talented and compassionate educator and leader in languages education in WA.
This award is the highest honour for language teachers in WA and recognises and congratulates excellence in the teaching of languages and the commitment to language education in the classroom and through involvement in language professional associations in Western Australia. It is also designed to increase the status of the language teaching profession.
Mrs Pavy is recognised for being a passionate teacher who has taught both Italian and Indonesian to lower and senior secondary students at CVC. As a highly skilled language teacher, she has a large repertoire of teaching strategies that promote cooperative learning and are motivating and engaging for the students. She has also organised many curriculum-based excursions to enrich students’ learning experiences. Throughout her career she has mentored many pre-service teachers and provided ongoing support for graduate teachers. She has also been a member of numerous professional bodies and is currently the Events Coordinator for the Westralian Indonesian Language Teachers' Association.
