On Wednesday November 6, CVC hosted our first Minecraft Education Network day. The day involved innovative teachers from several schools working together to understand the basics and potential of Minecraft Education within the classroom.

The day allowed us to examine our new technology innovation space in GL6 and see how far we could push the computers– of course by seeing how many chickens we could spawn in to our worlds before the game started to struggle.

The day-long workshop, run by Steve Toscas from Standout Education allowed teachers to see value in using Minecraft as a way to deliver content, work together within collaborative spaces and demonstrate an understanding of knowledge all within an immersive environment. Steve showed us the potential to create and export worlds and even how to bring them in to other software applications for students to extend on what they have created via Augmented Reality.

Many thanks must go to Mrs Smith, for her leadership and organisation of the day, as I know it would not have run as smoothly without her help. I know that we are already looking forward to seeing the incredible class projects created by our teachers and partner schools as well as our students!
