Shibori and Indigo Fashion Exhibition by Year 11 CVC Students
Year 11 students studying a Certificate III in Design (Fashion) recently explored the Japanese art of Shibori.
As part of their task students were given the opportunity to explore using indigo dye how to create a range of effects using folding, scrunching, wrapping and stitching.
Students then used these skills to create a finished product. Whilst kimonos are a traditional take on the techniques, other students explored their skills by creating homewares or tshirts.
The overall effect of the dying is stunning and the range of ideas demonstrated by the students creates a striking display.
Their work will be on display for the next two weeks in the Whitely Fish Bowl at the Agonis building in Gosnells.
