CircusTroupePrimaryVisits 2018

During term 3, The Act Belong Commit CVC Circus Troupe had the honour of performing their new stage show ‘The David Attenborough School Yard Experience’ for our wonderful local primary schools.

The troupe performed the 50 min stage show 8 times over 4 days to approximately 3500 primary school students. It really is an honour to be allowed to share the creativity and talents of our wonderful CVC students with the wider community.

"Firstly Thank you. Then WOW!  What a huge difference you have made in the lives of the students in the Circus. The difference in the performances each year has been amazing, every year they are more professional, skilled and polished as an act.  The message portrayed is very current and fits right in with the curriculum and a PBS school. We first started booking you when you started so to watch the transformation has been a pleasure. The students love you coming."Principal, Yale Primary School.

"From the outset we knew we were in for something special. This was most evident when primary students from across the school gave up their lunch break to spectate as CVC students set up. The professionalism of CVC Circus was apparent before the show began. Every student knew what their role was and how they contributed to pre and post show operations. Whilst the high school students went about setting up, they managed to connect and engage the many onlookers (right down to the littlest pre-primary). The very talented ‘Canning Vale College Circus’, had everyone P – 6 (staff and parents as well) totally enthralled by their amazing tricks and antics. I’d go as far as saying the CVC Circus is probably one of the best incursions we’ve had at South Lake Primary.

The Act-Belong-Commit message about keeping mentally healthy by keeping active, keeping up friendships and connections with others, and engaging in activities that provide meaning and purpose in life was constantly reinforced." - Principal, South Lakes Primary School

"Just a quick note to thank you for bringing the CVC Circus to Excelsior again this year. Each year the Circus delivers a show that is both entertaining and thoughtful for the ACT BELONG COMMIT theme that runs through every performance. This year, there appeared to be more of an emphasis on the story lines and less on the acrobats which made the experience slightly different for our students. Our students really enjoyed the acrobats on display, particularly the girls on the wheel and the boy in the silver hoop. However, as usual, your students developed the theme and the story to demonstrate in a fun way different examples of bullying and how to deal with this. Students once again loved the show and talked and wrote about it for many days.

We have quite a number of ex-Excelsior students involved in the show which was really great for our audience (including younger siblings) and particularly for those students who aspire to be part of the Circus in the future. They have grown into pretty sensible and mature young adults which can no doubt be attributed to being in the Circus family with all the support and fun that this offers.

While the performance time was a Cluster meeting time for teachers, many chose to come to the show so that they could interact with their students as a follow up. That alone is testament to the quality of the show and its message.

Thank you once again for including us in your program and we look forward to seeing the show next year." - Principal, Excelsior Primary School.
