College Board Chairman
,P, B.Bus (Acct & Man) Dip Fin Ser.
Mayor City of Gosnells
Elected Chair in 2016 after being invited to join the Board as the Councillor respresentative from City of Gosnells. I am proud to join the Board as I have a strong interest in education. In particular, two of my daughters spent time at Canning Vale College from its inception in 2004 and my wife is a former teacher. My goal is to assist in ensuring Canning Vale College has the best reputation possible and delivers outstanding education to all those who attend.
From a personal point of view, I am a self-employed business man who owns and operates his own finance broking business which helps people obtain loans for all types of purposes. This, along with being a Justice of the Peace, sitting on the Courts of Traffic and Violence Restraining Orders and a City of Gosnells Councillor, keeps me very busy. I have a strong interest in sports and was pleased to be part of the original committee that established Canning Vale Junior Football Club.
Canning Vale College Principal
"I have over 37 years of experience in both public and private education, prioritising high quality public education three years into my teaching career. I was the inaugural Associate Principal at Byford Secondary College for 3 years, and prior to this the Deputy Principal at Safety Bay and Mirrabooka SHS for 7 years. I have extensive experience as a school administrator in the areas of senior schooling, vocational education, student services and school development, and more recently as a Principal of Hamilton Senior High School. My experience in a range of country and metropolitan schools including the Pilbara and Goldfields has seen me gain a wealth of experience. This has been in a variety of areas including Aboriginal education, culturally and linguistically diverse students and their communities as well as extensive Student Services experience."
Canning Vale College Vice Principal College Development
As a member of the CVC Board, I bring more than 25 years of experience in the public education system in Western Australia. My journey has included the role of Health and Physical education teacher, Level 3 Classroom teacher, Program Coordinator, Deputy Principal and Vice Principal as well as a number of years teaching overseas. At CVC I lead the professional development of the teaching staff, engage in the strategic and business planning for the College, undertake the College self-assessment processes as well as work to ensure governance and compliance within the department of education system structures.
It is my pleasure to be a member of the board at CVC as the school continues along its improvement journey.

Community Member (Local Business)
I commenced working in the Banking & Finance industry in 1979, holding roles of Senior Manager and State Insurance Development Manager prior to becoming self-employed as a Finance Broker in 1998 and starting a business called Sound Finance. In 2001 I sold the business and continued on with the Financial Planning side. I currently work from home, as a Financial Planner looking after a small book of clients.
I was fortunate to attend Wesley College for nine years. Since then I have completed a Certificate in Business (Curtin University), Diploma in Finance Broking, Diploma in Financial Planning, Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and have attained the designation of Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner FChFP.
Personally, I am married and have two daughters (in their 20's & 30's). I am a member of the Gosnells Golf Club, Southern Districts Rotary Club and have held roles as President Vic Park Chamber of Commerce and State President of local Chambers. I love assisting where possible and see my position on the College Board as another opportunity to assist my local community.
I am the mother of two students at the school currently in Year 8 and Year 7, who are both involved with the various specialist programs the College offers.
I bring a wide background of experience:
• I was an active member of the Canning Vale Primary School P&C executive when my children were in Primary School, holding the role of Canteen Treasurer.
• I have been an active member of Rotary for over 20 years, and have held all manner of positions on boards and committees at local, district, and international levels, chairing many of those committees. I have been on the board of a Rotary or Rotaract Club pretty much the entire time I have been involved, and I am currently the PR Director on the board of the Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay.
• I am the Secretary and PR Director of the WA Music Teachers Association (and am also filling the Treasurer role with the resignation of the incumbent Treasurer)
• I have previously been the WA Branch Secretary and was on the National Assembly for Professionals Australia (when it was called the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists, and Managers, Australia); I am no longer involved as I changed industries [I have 2 degrees in science and worked in the IT industry for 15 years].
• I also have a Diploma of Business and have run my own local small businesses in Canning Vale since 2004.
I thoroughly enjoy being an engaged, active member of the communities I belong to, and would love to be more involved with the CVC community. My experiences with Rotary have particularly seen me interact regularly with people from a wide range of nationalities and languages, and with the diversity of nationalities in Canning Vale I believe that is important to represent.
I am a Cyber Security Manager and casual Lecturer at North Metropolitan TAFE. With a background in audit, risk, governance, controls and information technology. I have in excess of 15 years’ experience working in management roles within public and private sector companies, and recent experience in further education. I have worked on a number of large transformational IT projects and provided an advisory service to a number of larger corporations in WA. I have also offered my services to not-for-profit organisations supporting people in need for various charities.
Outside of work I like to spend time with my family, keep fit, play sports, camping, hiking and fishing. I am a single parent with three children. All of which having attended CVC with my youngest son, currently a Year 10 student.
I know that my children enjoyed their time at the school and were served very well. I would like to pay it back with my time volunteering my services at the school. Our children are the next generation of leaders and model citizens. All children matter and need to be treated fairly, feel safe and be recognised for their unique talents and abilities.
I am passionate and proud about the community we live in and would relish the opportunity to play a small part in ensuring that we continue to grow, improve and deliver a high quality education, preparing our children in becoming responsible, respectable and successful adults. No doubt there are challenges to be faced which can be overcome with optimism, energy and hope. We can all make a difference by coming together, playing our part no matter how small and mapping a pathway to a better and brighter future for all.
I currently have two boys attending the school and am eager to contribute where I can. I currently work as the Senior Manager of HR Operation for WA/SA for Toll Group and Chair our Inclusion and Diversity Working Group Committee.
With an extensive career spanning 15 years in Human Resources, Industrial Relations and Policy Development I believe my experience and knowledge would be of value to the Board, the School and our local community.
I am the father of two CVC students (in Year 9 and 10) who are receiving great support from the College, and am keen to make a contribution to the school community.
I have extensive Board experience and am currently the Chair of Developmental Disability WA. I am also an advocate with the state Mental Health Advocacy Service, and a consultant in communications and public relations.
I was previously a journalist for more than 20 years.
I have a daughter in Year 7 at CVC. I am currently a member of the Excelsior Primary School Board, and for the last 3 years have been the Board Chair. I am also an active member on the Excelsior Primary School P&C. I believe that the education and growth of our kids is one of the most important challenges that we are faced with as parents. As I have been with Excelsior Primary School, I would be passionate about ensuring that the College continues to maintain and develop its excellent reputation as a school that delivers for its staff and its students.
From a work point of view, I am working as a consultant for a local software development company that sells its products globally. I have over 22 years industry experience.
